COMUNICADOS DE PRENSA

¡A Q & A with Dr. Peter te Lintel Hekkert, Sales Director of
Public Computing in the Netherlands!

05 Abril, 2.010 - Fuente: Public Computing, The Netherlands / EKN

We have had the privilege of working with Public Computing for many years and have enjoyed our professional relationship. Public Computing, located in The Netherlands as been a leading European Kiosk and Digital Signage Company with distributors in Spain, Greece, and the United States. Before we speak with Dr. Peter te Lintel Hekkert let’s review a bit about their company.

Public Computing      Public Computing      Slabb, Inc.

Public Computing trading as Slabb, Inc. in the U.S.A.,is a volume manufacturer of cost effective Public Computers (Kiosks) and Digital Signage hardware utilizing best-in-class components in the manufacturing process.

The most interest for our equipment comes from the retail, banking, ticketing and hospitality industries as well as government agencies. The kiosk functionality ranges from simple access to the internet, intranet and to all types of transactional self-service solutions.

The equipment is being sold through a network of Value Added Resellers as well as to a number of corporate accounts. The Public Computing production facilities in Taiwan also build OEM projects for corporate customers and local distributors.

Public Computing has a number of proprietary designs, some of which are sold under the Public Computing name, like the Q and X series. Another product-line is built only for the distributors’ channel.

The Public Computing Value Added Resellers are creating a tremendous value by providing the total solution to the end customer. They are the specialist in their vertical market and are complementing the Public Computing hardware with software, installation services, maintenance and warrantee contracts, leasing, financing as well as local customization and branding.     (Public Computing Contacts)

Dr. Peter te Lintel Hekkert, Sales Director of Public Computing
Dr. Peter te Lintel Hekkert
EKN: "Thank you for taking time to speak with our viewers. We know you have a very busy schedule and appreciate you sharing not only your information about Public Computing but also your perspective on today’s challenging financial environment."
Peter: "Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity, Robert. It is a pleasure to work with you and your colleagues at EKN."

EKN: "Please tell us a little about your background and how you entered the Self-Service Industry?"
Peter: "My background is in the automation of self-service processes. I have worked for public sector companies, government organizations and banks before entering the kiosk world. My work then had the goal of empowering the consumers and customers of these organizations. I was responsible to providing people access to the company’s back-end systems, so they could get access to their Government records, like their employment history for instance, or health dossiers. This work included setting up websites, security, identification and authentication of millions of users."

EKN: "Thank you, Sir. Even in that position you were providing information for people to use through a machine interface. It is very similar to many applications used today interfacing with kiosks. It is always interesting to learn about how varied our backgrounds are and the expertise we bring to the Industry. May I ask about the members of your Team?"
Peter: "Public Computing has over 50 resellers throughout Europe and the Middle East. We have distributors in Australia, The Netherlands, UK, Greece and Spain. Our U.S.A. Company, Slabb, is mostly involved in direct selling or partners with software vendors to offer our customers a full solution. We sell mostly to Value Add Resellers, like Marketing Companies and software houses."

EKN: "We have been very interested in the blending of technologies that has been occurring between Digital Signage and Kiosk Applications. With your full line of Digital Signage Products in place for several years now, it is clear that you see these applications as having a common or similar application in the Public Environment. How do you see your customers using these applications today?"
Peter: ": All of our large screens are now sold with an industrial PC, Touch screen and other small components: web cams, card readers etc. Clearly these are more and more used, not just to bring advertisements, but also increase the traffic and the amount of time customers stay in the mall or retail area, buy offering them localized and personalized content. As some the screens have credit card readers, they are also used as “kiosks”. We hardly sell our kiosks without the overhead monitor. Although these monitors are (still) mainly used for advertisements, we have seen applications, where the overhead monitor would bring marketing messages and information related to the requests and buying patterns of the user of the kiosk."

          Public Computing Team

EKN: "Thank you, Dr. te Lintel Hekkert. It is interesting to see card interfacing on a digital signage application. I am sure we will continue to see more touch enabled and multi-function signage in the near future."
Peter: "Robert, many thanks for your support of Public Computing. While no company has had an easy time in the last couple of years, we are very positive about our approach and see a very bright future for the Public Computing Team and wish all of you the best."

EKN: "Peter, in closing, we would like to thank you for taking the time out of your very busy schedule to share you thoughts and views for our viewers. I appreciate that you have been engaged in many international business trips recently and would like to express to all of our readers that they take some time to see what is going on at Public Computing. Thank you everyone. We hope to see many of you in Las Vegas at the KioskCom Expo."
