A Q & A with Lawrence Dvorchik, General Manager of KioskCom's
Self Service Expo on what he is anticipating for this year's Global Event on 25-27 April, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas!

23 March, 2007 -  Over the last few years, EKN has been witness to the birth of an Industry transforming from educating people about self service technology to target specific selling and broad based applications that reach out into a wide variety of applications.

The Kiosk and Self-Service Industry has been led from the beginning by a handful of professionals that have maintained the vision and provided guidance to companies involved in this arena. Lawrence Dvorchik has been at the helm of KioskCom, the World's largest Kiosk and Self Service Expo for the last eleven years. He has been instrumental in bring events to Europe, The Middle East, and soon to come in 2008, China.

In September 2005, JD Events purchased the KioskCom Tradeshow and has been growing the global events and brand. There is a definitive buzz floating out there about the upcoming KioskCom's Self Service Expo in Las Vegas 25-27 April, 2007 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

We had a fascinating and insightful discussion with Lawrence about what he is anticipating for this year's Global Event.


  EKN: "We have been working closely with the JD Events Team and KioskCom for many years - the 10th Annual Show last year was excellent. For an event that has represented the entire Self Service Industry for so many years, it was clear that vast improvements were made last year. Can we expect the same type of Expo this year or will you scale back a bit?"
Lawrence: "It's a pleasure to speak with EKN again."
 
  Lawrence Dvorchik, General Manager, KioskCom 's Self Service Expo   "This year's KioskCom's Self Service Expo has most definitely grown, expanding out into about 75 more exhibitors, with attendance on pace to increase from last year. We continued our efforts towards delivering the highest quality audience, along with several new twists to the educational sessions, exhibit floor and Featured Area, Self Service Street. We are constantly looking for new ways to improve the event and add more value for attendees and exhibitors alike."  

  EKN: "No wonder people are starting to get excited about this year's Event. What can you tell us about the expertise that the JD Events Team provides in the management of the Event?"
Lawrence: "JD Events has added a level of management and organization for the event that is unparalleled. The experience of the entire team has added to the creativity, delivery and overall growth of the event. I couldn't be more thrilled with the contributions of everyone at JD Events."

EKN: "Our experience in the tradeshow environment has taught us that exhibitors have unique needs.The first is seeking out buyers to attend the Show and then drawing end users into the Show venue.How do you entice that audience?"
Lawrence: "Audience development is always an incredibly important part of any event. We have spent countless hours researching and developing a cohesive, detailed marketing program designed to attract the decision makers that should be - and are - attending. We have expanded the program to involve a deployer only meeting, allowing for open and frank discussions among those companies that have already deployed kiosk programs, without media, consultants, analysts or suppliers present.

We developed all new content for the educational sessions, remaining the only event in this industry that actively seeks out deployer's, and not vendors, as speakers. Potential deployer's want to hear from their colleagues - and we take great pains to offer only the leading edge information from top companies - such as General Motors, Procter & Gamble, Virgin Entertainment, Amtrak, Duke University, the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Polo Ralph Lauren, and more.

EKN: "Tell us about the Excellence Awards?"
Lawrence: "The KioskCom's Self Service Excellence Awards are now in their 5th year, and have become the focus of the industry. Honoring the most successful and innovative self-service and interactive digital media solutions, the Self Service Excellence Awards are unique in that this Awards Contest has always had a core focus on the success of the self-service and interactive digital media solution based on the measurements set forth by the deploying organization, and not just the technology suppliers.

Over the years, KioskCom has honored over 150 companies across multiple industries for their leadership, innovations, and successes with self-service and interactive digital media solutions. Past winners honored include: BMW, SONY, FedEx, AAA, the US Postal Service, Avis, Hilton Hotels, Sunoco, SAS, Daimler Chrysler and Exxon Mobil.

EKN: "There seems to be great competition between organizations that "think" that creating a Professional International Tradeshow is easy. People may have the impression that one venue is not different than another. Is geographical venue selection more important or experience in the field?"
Lawrence: "KioskCom has been around for 11 years, and I have personally been involved in running the show - and helping develop an industry - for 10 of these years. It is more than just "we want or think we can do a kiosk and self-service show". Many companies feel they can organize events and be successful. KioskCom is the original trade event focusing on self-service, and has continued to grow over each of the 11 years we have been running the show. It's more than just a show or trade event. I have lived and breathed kiosks and self-service for 10 years, watching and working with the thousands of deployer's who have attended our show, and utilized the tremendous knowledge base that we have developed.

From a supplier / exhibitor standpoint, the KioskCom brand (now KioskCom's Self Service Expo) exudes confidence and beliefs. Companies can be 100% assured of the professional quality of the event They can be confident that we will deliver the highest quality audience and deliver the highest quality service around. Anyone else is just trying - KioskCom is a 100% proven entity and have been for a decade in our delivery of quality attendees.

As we expand into other markets around the globe, we are applying this same philosophy to growing these events. We are ensuring that the quality that everyone has come to expect from KioskCom id's delivered at each and every venue around the world.

Thus far, KioskCom Europe, held in November 2006 in London (and scheduled for November 2007 in London) was a tremendously successful event, attracting the right quality and quantity of attendees. Each and every exhibitor was busy and felt that KioskCom delivered once again. KioskCom Middle East was held for the first time in February 2007, and once again, delivered an extremely qualified audience.

As we do everywhere, we are constantly evaluating these events and how to deliver more quality to attendees and exhibitors alike. KioskCom's Self Service Expo - Asia (Beijing, June 2008) is ready to get off the ground and running. But once again, the one consistent thread is the quality delivered by KioskCom events. I just don't see how that can be underscored any more. Not only do we know the events are quality, but exhibitors and attendees have come to know that KioskCom events will be worth their time, effort and expense - they know they will be attending a top quality event, each and every time."
