e2c Technology Limited has announced that on 9th March 2007, e2c Technology acquired ePOINT GROUP Limited through an IPR/assets purchase.
Commenting on the recent acquisition, Dr McDonald, CEO and founder of e2c said "The acquisition of ePOINT gives e2c ownership of ePOINT’s unique middleware technology, Universal Device Manager. This now forms a key platform component within our own range of management solutions for the gaming and kiosk industries. UDM complements the e2c range of hardware interconnect and control solutions and importantly it allow us to deliver complete and high quality remote machine management solutions, right down to the device level. We are very pleased to have built up this unique capability so quickly"
Previously, Scotland based ePOINT was successful in winning a broad order-book of kiosk business across the globe. Major OEM manufacturing customers/ included: Hewlett Packard, Polaroid, Fujifilm and Sony.
In the UK, ePOINT successfully deployed large scale kiosk solutions for major retailers, including Argos (Quickpay), Virgin V.Shop and Jessops.
In the gaming market, ePOINT designed and supplied key technology components for the highly successful Leisure Link ITbox. This popular product was rolled out across the UK and continues to operate today under the new ownership of Inspired Gaming Group plc.
Through this acquisition e2c also acquired the sole rights to all ePOINT kiosk products and trademarks, including the ePOINT brand. In addition, e2c also recruited the key technical staff from the previous ePOINT team, including ePOINT’s founder/CTO Dr Donny McDonald, who takes up the position of CEO.
With its primary focus being on providing high value-added technology solutions to gaming and kiosk manufacturers, e2c may seek to license or divest its substantial ePOINT kiosk product/solutions portfolio.
