Build-A-Bear Takes Top Honor at KioskCom Excellence Awards!
Korea's MediaSolution Takes Two Top Honors!
11 April, 2006 - LAS VEGAS NEVADA,USA --
A simple kiosk that dispenses personalized gift cards was the big winner at KioskCom's 5th Annual Excellence Awards, held Monday evening, April 10th, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Former CNN news anchor Bob Losure served as master of ceremonies for the second year.
The Build-A-Bear Personalized Gift Card Kiosk took home a new honor as the top scoring entry in the competition, as well as first place awards for Best Kiosk Application in a Retail Environment and Best Transactional Kiosk Application. The kiosk entry was submitted by Nanonation. Dave Watkins, Build-A-Bear Application Engi-Bear, accepted the awards before an enthusiastic audience of about 150 people.
One other multiple award winner was the Mobile Downtown Kiosk, submitted by MediaSolution, based in Korea. The kiosk is a multifunction model that, among other things, downloads digital media.
A panel of 21 judges, representing analyst firms, kiosk vendors and suppliers and kiosk media selected winners in a dozen categories.
The individual award for Industry Deployer of the Year went to Ginny Lewis, Director of the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles. The Nevada DMV's kiosk project won an award for Best Kiosk Application for Government, Education or a Non-Profit Agency.
The Industry Supplier of the Year went to KIOSK Information Systems' Rick Malone, whose 13-year-old firm submitted the winner in the Best Kiosk Application for Travel or Hospitality for Swift Transportation.
