Custom and Ingenico work together to bring electronic payments to the world of self-service!

01 November, 2006 -  Milan, Italy -   Custom Engineering, leading Italian company in the electronic device sector for retailing and self service systems and Ingenico Italia, leader in the development of electronic payment systems, have signed a cooperation agreement in virtue of which Custom will become exclusive distributor for the world of industry of the new Ingenico i9400 system, especially designed for the safe handling of electronic payments on all self-service devices. Ingenico will continue to market this new solution in the banking sector.

The i9400 system consists of terminals that can be easily incorporated in unattended systems, enabling these systems to accept payments with bank cards, especially with the new EMV Integrated Circuit Cards. Today, payments for goods and services provided through these systems may be effected in various ways: by cash, by pre-paid cards or through radiofrequency wireless payment systems. To these methods, we can now add payment by credit card and ATM card, in total security and using a certified solution.

Many sectors will benefit from the new payment system:ticketing, multi-service kiosks, car parks, public administration departments, petrol stations, and the entire world of vending in general, especially in cases in which the value of the goods purchased justifies the use of a bank card.

Ingenico and Custom agree that this market is already extremely well-developed in Italy, but that its growth is bound to continue as years go on, thanks to the increasingly widespread habits of users - especially young people - to utilize unattended systems autonomously. It is our intention to work together to make the most of the opportunities generated by the increasingly widespread use of payment cards and the raising of security levels; these developments have made electronic payments reliable so that they can be used with the greatest of confidence.
