PRESS RELEASE

Hengstler introduces new high-speed C-56 Thermal Receipt Printer
with USB Interface!

07 December, 2004 - Aldingen, Germany   - In a move sure to solve many customer application problems, HENGSTLER has announced the introduction of their new C-56 thermal receipt printer with both a fast 250 mm/second print speed, and a rapid USB interface. Besides these speedy features, the C-56 includes a unique, patented tear bar assembly that prevents vandals from pulling the paper out of the printer. The design also implements an integral chute that protrudes from the front of the system's panel, making mounting and integration simple. A low selling price tops the list of features.

The C-56 is ideal for kiosks and other unattended receipt printing applications, since the high-speed USB interface allows bar codes, logos and other graphic images to be transmitted virtually instantly, unlike slow serial interfaces.

This allows the printer to be used for applications in addition to printing simple receipts, such as coupon printing and ticketing. The patented tear bar assembly provides the benefits of a much more expensive presenter-equipped printer without the associated costs.
HENGSTLER - C-56 Thermal Receipt Printer

"Print speed has long been an issue in printer applications." says Roland Thuet, Sales / Product Manager - Printers for Hengstler, "Slow printers make users impatient waiting for the printout, which reflects poorly on the entire kiosk or system. And slow interfaces create more problems by increasing the user's wait as data is sent to the printer. Slow serial interfaces were simple to implement, but lacked the bandwidth to transmit large amounts of graphics. High speed transmission of graphics is crucial for anything printed through a Windows driver, since all such printouts print entirely as graphics, even if they appear as text. Parallel interfaces helped speed things up", Levinski continues, "but the cables were large and unwieldy, and recoverability in unattended operation was an issue. The introduction of the USB interface, such as in the C56, is the perfect solution."

Other features of the Hengstler C-56 thermal receipt printer include 58-60 mm wide paper stock, 200 dpi resolution, a wide temperature range, internal bar code generation, and simple, "no tools needed" printer mechanism replacement.
