PRESS RELEASE
MEI Launches New Banknote Acceptor for High-Volume Retail Applications!
04 September, 2004 - West Chester, PA. -
MEI, the world's leading developer of electronic payment systems, has launched its CASHFLOW® SCL83 banknote acceptor for high-volume retail applications. The SCL83, which became commercially available in August 2004, is a variation of the recently introduced CASHFLOW SC83, and features a longer, durable cashbox that can accommodate up to 1200 banknotes.
The MEI CASHFLOW SCL83's built-in, lockable, high-capacity cassette enables more transactions between note collection, making it ideally suited for high-volume retail applications like self-checkouts and electronic cash safes.
The cassette is constructed of a high-impact plastic designed to withstand rigorous handling, as demonstrated in tests where the product was dropped 30 times from one meter onto concrete while fully loaded without dislodging a single note, and with no resultant damage to the cashbox. Designed to be easily removed with one hand by money handlers, it is ideal for fast and easy transport in busy retail environments.
Like the MEI CASHFLOW SC83, the MEI CASHFLOW SCL83 can accept the majority of the world's currency, and can be deployed in markets worldwide. It accepts banknotes from 62-83mm in width and 120-166mm in length. The product is constructed of a durable, high impact plastic in a curved, welded design that provides superior protection of internal mechanisms against harsh handling.
In addition, the cassette features the industry's first dispute resolution window, which shows the value of the last bill stacked in the cassette. Customers can view the actual note last fed, getting solid proof of their transaction, and resolving their dispute quickly.
"With its proven reliability and high note capacity, the MEI CASHFLOW SCL83 cuts cycle times and allows retailers to dedicate more of their resources on the true back-bone of their businesses: customer service," said Andrew Osborne, global marketing manager for MEI's retail division. "This, coupled with its superior ability to accept worn and damaged notes and provide the industry's best fraud detection, means that retailers can be confident that they're maximizing their transaction potential, and their cashbox, anywhere in the world."
