Cursor Controls launches New Range of Optical Trackerballs!
23 April, 2003 - Cursor Controls Ltd and NSI bvba launched a new range of optical trackerballs at Hannover
Messe, 7-12 April 2003. The range, which has been developed in response to specific demands
from industrial, military and marine markets, will not only work whilst immersed under water,
but also when contaminated by ultrasound gel, coffee, cola and even beer.
Each unit is virtually maintenance free with no moving parts, except for the ball. Features
include anti-vandal options, full IP68 seal rating against liquid ingress, intrinsically and
ESD safe operation, self draining and flush through facility, along with variable friction
control to enable users to tailor the tracking force for specific applications.
The use of optical technology is being received by the OEM market as a huge leap forward in
the industry as, at last, it makes available the first wholly waterproof trackball devices.
This "solid-state" design reflects what the market actually needs: a range of robust, minimal
depth, no-maintenance, watertight, quality solutions produced at very competitive prices and
retro-fittable into most existing OEM designs.
The manufacturers believe that this is the first compact slim line industrial design of its
kind in the world and have applied for patents on many of its unique features.
Currently available in 38mm and 50mm ball sizes, the range will be expanded later in 2003 to
include 25mm and 75mm options.
