NeoProducts' "DIPLOMAT" to be used in F.C.O. World Information Service!

17 April, 2002 -  NeoProducts, the world's leading public access kiosk manufacturer, has announced that its latest Diplomat kiosks are to be used in a pilot project for the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) to provide interactive information systems in British overseas posts and other locations, including British Council and British Tourist Authority Offices, around the world.

The FCO installation will comprise a NeoProducts Diplomat kiosk with A4 thermal printer and the pilot project will see an initial total of 15 interactive touchscreen kiosks in 14 different countries including sites in Asia, Africa, Australasia, the Americas and Europe. The kiosks will provide information on the UK along with visa and passport application information. Depending on the success of the pilot, the FCO has plans to put information kiosks into many other locations around the world.

The overall pilot project is being managed by global solutions company Logica who will provide all software, technical support and kiosk monitoring functions using NeoProducts' ground-breaking Kiosk Monitoring Module (KMM). To coincide with this project, the FCO is developing a new portal website, i-uk.com, to work in conjunction with the Diplomat kiosks.

The Diplomat kiosk offers all the functionality required to suit most touchscreen applications within an elegant, slimline housing that looks good in any environment. It is ideal for use in a wide range of applications from POI (point of information) to transaction-based. Diplomat kiosks offer A4 printing capability, magnetic or smart card readers and a remote monitoring and shutdown facility via the unit's Kiosk Management Module (KMM).

The Diplomat is fully network enabled and can be easily integrated into an existing corporate network. Designed to offer ease of serviceability, all components within the Diplomat are easily accessible and can be replaced on-site with minimal disruption.

The touch monitor provides a highly user-friendly interface and is based on an ELO surface wave touchscreen and a high performance 15in TFT LCD. This is complemented by an integrated high quality audio system all driven from a Compaq EN series SFF PC. The Diplomat package is completed with an A4 thermal printer offering 200 or 300dpi resolution, a motorised magnetic/Smart card reader, the kiosk management module and an optional uninterruptible power supply.

NeoProducts has, in the last 10 years, sold over 30,000 touchscreen terminals.
