NeoProducts Introduces "DIPLOMAT"
A Slimline Touchscreen Kiosk for Space Conscious Applications!

06 November, 2001 -  NeoProducts, the world's leading public access kiosk manufacturer, has extended its range of LCD touchscreen kiosks with the Diplomat, a unit designed with the space conscious in mind.

The Diplomat is fully network enabled and can be easily integrated into an existing corporate network. Designed to offer ease of serviceability, all components within the Diplomat are easily accessible and can be replaced on-site with minimal disruption.

The two-tone powder-coated steel chassis features a single door with multi-point locking system and a rear cable access port. Field-swappable decoration panels are available for product differentiation. Designed to comply with electrical safety and EMC requirements, the Diplomat kiosk features modular construction for easy servicing and can be floor standing or wall mounted.

The touch monitor provides a highly user-friendly interface and is based on an ELO surface acoustic wave touchscreen and a high performance 15in TFT LCD. This is complemented by an integrated high quality audio system all driven from a Compaq EN series SFF PC. The Diplomat package is completed with an A4 thermal printer offering 200 or 300dpi resolution, a motorised magnetic/Smart card reader, the kiosk management module and an optional uninterruptible power supply. Kiosk dimensions are 1220mm high by 470mm wide by 450mm deep and unit weight is approx. 60kg. Operating temperature range is from 5 to 40 C, 5 to 85% humidity. Ventilation is via forced air cooling.

Diplomat extends NeoProducts' comprehensive range of public access information kiosks that includes the highly acclaimed Affinity interactive terminal. Affinity is a highly engineered kiosk featuring a 15in LCD touchscreen plus a wide range of monitoring and management facilities. It is based on an attractively designed powder-coated steel chassis with injection moulded plastic body panels (UV stabilised and flame retardant for long life and safety). The design is optimised for use by disabled persons in accordance with international standards and complies with current IT equipment electrical safety requirements (CE approved).

Kiosks based on the Affinity design have already been chosen for the British Government's flagship Employment Services Jobpoint project. The custom designed Jobpoint kiosks, manufactured at NeoProducts' UK plant in Kings Norton, Birmingham, are being installed during 2001 by the Employment Services' IT partner EDS in over 1,000 of Britain's Jobcentres and will replace the traditional rows of cards on display boards showing local job opportunities. In all, the total of 9,000 networked high tech kiosks will make life easier for Britain's job seekers by enabling them to search not only local opportunities but also access every Jobcentre vacancy in the country - currently some 300,000 jobs in all. Unlike traditional display boards, the Jobpoints are updated instantly from the national job bank and can also include third party, European and international vacancies.

The Jobpoint kiosks have already found widespread acclaim and the installation was recently recognised with the prestigious Government Computing magazine "Innovation Award for Services to the Citizen" and won the Computing Awards for Excellence 2001, Most Innovative e-business Project category.

NeoProducts has, in the last 10 years, sold over 30,000 touchscreen terminals. Last year, the company was awarded the Frost & Sullivan "Best Customer Focus Award" in its annual report on the world kiosk market. This year it acquired UK-based LGC Associates to strenthen its European sales and development operations.
